Rollor Coaster Missionnary

Bonjour tout la monde! (hey every one!)

Life in sensible shoes is always crazy. Up and down and rendevous and ratezs and crazy French food. But the miracles continue. Here's the update.

August 1: A sister in our ward told me to find a husband like the bishop here. Find one that loves the Lord deeply and you with all of his heart. Good advice.

Aug 2: We went knocking doors and found 2 people interested in our message. One happened (?) to be a German family. And interestingly enough, I have a German companion. Funny how the Lord puts people in your path.

Aug 3: A wonderful old bridge, a building covered in Ivy, the smell of a fresh flower shop on the corner, and an old man sitting on his porch playing the accordian. Perfect!

Aug 4: I smiled at a woman and her baby accros the street and she walked up to me and asked if she knew me from somewhere. and of course i didn't know her but she said she felt like we were friends from somewhere and invited me and my compaion to here house for juice. This strager just invited another stranger to her house. And we went and it was amazing! Her name is Hasnae and she's morrocan and beautiful. and i think we'll be friends for life.

Sr. Figenwald hasn't been to church in 30 years and hasn't let missionarries in her house for 27. But for some reason we tried again. And for some reason she let us in. And we had a wonderful conversation, she gave us cookies. And we prayed together. The Spirit was there and it was amazing. She asked us to come back. She's 80+ years old and she had a chage of heart becuase of a silly note we left in her mail box telling her that we loved her on pink flower paper.

4 letters today! Sweet!

Aug 5: Old neighbors getting together every night to talk about there day. They invited us in and we sat and drank Perrier (sick sick carbonated water - it's really gross) but we sat and talked about life and it was just so perfect. This man looks exactly like my favorite professor. He was kind of angry with us. But after I told him that he gave us doughnuts! Thanks Dr. Scott for getting me a french doughnut!

Aug 6: I learned today - sometimes the Lord isn't trying to change you. He doesn't give you trials to punish you. He's just trying to get closer to you. He just wants to hold you. Soeur Moore taught me that while we were walking the streets of nice eating a kabab.

I told an atheist that God loved her and gave her a handful of sea glass. She looked at me so profoundly and I told her it sounds crazy, I know, to the rational mind that some being is out there watching over me but I promise you beyond all logic, beyond all ration thought, something is out there. I know becuase I feel it all the way down in my soul. Every time i see a child or a butterfly, I just know it didn't all just happen. There is some master creator that put that butterfly in my path to say "i love you and I know you." Every butterfly is a message from God. And I didn't set up a meeting with her, and i don't think she's going to join my church, but it just felt so good to tell someone that with my whole heart. I know there is a God.

Aug7: A woman who told the missionnaries she wanted nothing to do with them 3 months ago has been coming to church lately. She has a neighbor that is a member and they are great friends. And today she walked up to us and said I want to be baptised. Just like that! Just like that! And this woman knows the bible. She has been searching for truth for 30 years. And she told us, i'm going to be baptised on August 21 and that's that. Ok I'm not arguing! Miracles!!!

A 17 year old girl was sitting on a park bench just crying. We walked by on our way to an appointment but decided to turn back. We didn't knwo what we were going to say to her but we went back. Turns out, she speaks German! She was lost and didn't know what to do. It was her first day in Franch and she didn't know how to call her family or anything. So my comp, helped her and we are all going for pizza on Wednesday.

So many miracles! So many blessings. God puts people in your path that you can help. You just have to be looking. There are people everyday that we can positivly influence their life. And even if they don't join our church, or accept our beliefs, or even like us, you can always give a lonely woman who just went through kemotherapy, a handful of sea glass and tell her there are good things in the world. Simple things impact lives.

My challenge. This week. Share the simple things with someone. Show a child a butterfly. Memorize a flower. Stick out your bear feet and feel the sunshine.

God loves you. He loves me. He even loves the crazy French.

Love, shai
